ProspectBacaro - ItalianThis award-winning restaurant attracts a well-heeled, sophisticated clientele with its Euro-chic atmosphere - of course, owner-chef Thad Morrow's seasonal Italian fare draws its share of devotees as well. Indeed, winter appetites are warmed by dishes like Painted Hills flatiron steak rubbed with smoked paprika; the spring menu, meanwhile, grants audience to the likes of diver scallops with pork shoulder ragu, sweet corn and green tomato mostarda. Divine desserts and more than 180 hand-selected Italian wines ensure that the "bacaro experience" lasts well beyond the main course. 113 N Walnut St Champaign, IL 61820 Phone: 217-398-6982 Fax: 217-353-7444 Hours: Tue-Sun 5pm-11pmTimpone's Restaurant - AmericanA popular fine dining restaurant, Timpone specializes in Italian cuisine with a few American dishes thrown in for good measure. Warm and inviting, the dining room is decorated with earthy hues and attractive sconces, and tables, appointed with white linens, allow just enough privacy for intimate conversation. The kitchen staff combines hand-selected organic ingredients in creative ways, and all of the pastas and pizzas are made fresh each day. Representative main courses range from risotto with black grouper, scallops, and Gulf shrimp to prosciutto-wrapped roast veal tenderloin with braised Jerusalem artichokes and spinach puree. 710 S Goodwin Ave Urbana, IL 61801 Phone: 217-344-7619 Fax: 217-344-7648 Hours: Mon-Thu 11:30am-3pm, 5pm-10pm; Fri 11:30am-3pm, 5pm-11pm; Sat 5pm-11pm Payment Methods: Visa,Master CardCourier Caf - AmericanThis old-fashioned eatery occupies the former space of the "Courier Newspaper." The cafe starts off each day by delivering one of the best homestyle breakfasts around - it doesn't matter if it's an omelet or potato pancakes you crave. Tasty burgers and sandwiches (see their mammoth Dagwood) are a cinch to appease any lunchtime hunger pangs. As for dinner, the kitchen serves tasty "sit down fare" like pork tenderloin and Southern fried chicken. And here's the "scoop" on dessert: Hand-dipped shakes and hot fudge sundaes are well worth the grandiose headlines they get. 111 N Race St Urbana, IL 61801 Phone: 217-328-1811 Fax: 217-328-5707 Hours: Mon-Thu 7am-11pm; Fri-Sat 7am-12am; Sun 7am-11pmMilo's Restaurant - AmericanMilo's, in downtown Urbana, is a locally-owned restaurant whose success rests on the strengths of its friendly service and outstanding American cuisine. Casual and even a little quirky at times, the place has all the charm of a neighborhood eatery, from a loyal cast of regulars to one-of-a-kind dishes like "upside-down pizzas." Thankfully, culinary creativity doesn't stop there, as seasonal dishes like wild mushroom-stuffed salmon, shrimp cakes with mint caper tartar sauce, and rack of lamb attest. Shaded patio seating provides a perfect setting for wining and dining when it's nice out. 300 S Broadway Ave Lincoln Square Village Urbana, IL 61801 Phone: 217-344-8946 Hours: Tue-Thu 11am-2pm, 5pm-9pm; Fri-Sat 11am-2pm, 5pm-10pm; Sun 11am-2pm, 5pm-9pmSilvercreek Restaurant - AmericanHoused in a restored lumber works building (circa 1915), Silvercreek sports a gentrified interior of dark trimwork, weathered brick walls, and a vaulted ceiling with exposed wood beams. Dinners are sure to impress thanks to main courses like Colorado lamb chop with mint pesto and slow-roasted duck with blackberry-bourbon demi-glace. Sunday brunch is an especial affair with beautifully-displayed dishes: everything from garden-fresh salads to smoked salmon, pastries and hand-carved meats. Be sure to save some extra space - the onsite bakery delivers devilishly good desserts. 402 N Race St Urbana, IL 61801 Phone: 217-328-3402 Hours: Mon-Thu 11am-10pm; Fri-Sat 11am-11pm; Sun 10am-10pmKennedy's at Stone Creek - AmericanThe rolling fairways of Stone Creek Golf Club unfold before the windows of this popular American eatery, where fresh fish and seafood share top billing with Certified Angus steaks.
